Dr R. Sumathi
Dr R. Sumathi heads the Central Research Facility at Off Campus Arni, where they lead strategic research initiatives and interdisciplinary collaborations. With over 18 years of experience in the field of Medicinal Chemistry, she oversees the Centres operational growth and academic excellence. She holds M.Sc., B.Ed., M.Phil., M.Sc. (Yoga), and PhD degrees and is also serving as the Deputy Dean (Research) at Dr M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Arani Off-Campus. Her research expertise lies in Medicinal Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. She has published several research papers in Scopus-indexed and non-Scopus journals, and has also presented her work at national and international conferences. In addition to her research publications, two of her books have been published, reflecting her sustained contribution to academic scholarship and research advancement. Under her leadership the Centre is committed to mentoring the next generation of scholars fostering a diverse, inclusive research environment.
Dr. A. Selvi
Dr. A. Selvi is a Biotechnology researcher and Academician with over eight years of experience in research, teaching, and academic consulting. She currently serves as a Professor at the Central Research Facility, Office of Research & Innovation Practices, Dr. MGR Educational & Research Institute, Vellore. Her expertise lies in environmental bioremediation, molecular microbiology, electro-kinetic remediation, and integrated remediation technologies.
Dr. Selvi completed her PhD in Biotechnology from VIT University and pursued a DST-SERB-funded (20.0 lakhs) National Postdoctoral Fellowship. Over her career, she has held roles including Assistant Professor, Research Associate, and Academic Consultant, and has also gained international exposure through research training at the University of Melbourne.
An accomplished researcher, she has published 32 research papers and 5 book chapters, with significant citation impact and an h-index of 22 over 1,896 citations on Google Scholar.. She has received several recognitions, including a National Postdoctoral Fellowship and a Best Paper Award at an international conference. Her work includes a funded project on bioremediation of tannery effluent using BEER technology.
Dr. Selvi is actively involved in mentoring students, delivering invited lectures, organizing academic events, and reviewing for reputed peer-reviewed scientific journals
Dr. D. Ramachandiran
Dr. D. Ramachandiran is an Assistant Professor in the field of Chemistry, currently working at Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research University, Chennai. He completed his PhD in Chemistry in 2023 from Arignar Anna Government Arts College, Cheyyar, with research focused on eco-friendly synthesis of metal nanoparticles using plant extracts for catalytic, sensing, and biological applications.
He has over a decade of teaching experience and specialises in green synthesis, nanocchemistry, inorganic materials, metal ion sensing, and photocatalytic applications. Dr. Ramachandiran has published several research articles in reputed SCIE-indexed journals and has actively participated in national and international conferences. He also serves as a reviewer for international scientific journals.His research contributions mainly focus on environmental and biological applications of nanomaterials, including water treatment and pollutant degradation.
Dr.K. Shobana
DrK. Shobanaholds M.Sc., B.Ed., M.Phil., Ph.D. degrees, and is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of chemistry at Dr M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Arani Off-Campus. Her research focuses on the design and development of advanced biomaterials, including akermanite, larnite, and polymer-based composites, aimed at improving bone regeneration, mechanical strength, and biological performance.
She has extensive experience in materials synthesis techniques such as sol–gel and combustion methods, along with strong expertise in characterization tools including XRD, XPS, FT-IR, and microstructural analysis. Her work also involves in vitro biological studies such as biomineralization, cytotoxicity, antimicrobial activity, and hemocompatibility, contributing to the development of multifunctional biomaterials for orthopedic applications.
Dr. Shobana has a strong publication record in reputed international journals, including ACS Omega, Journal of Materials Research and Technology, Ceramics International, and Silicon. She has presented her research at several national and international conferences and received recognition, including the Raman Research Award (2022, 2023) and Best Oral Presentation Award (AMCEHA 2023).
In addition to research, she has experience as a Research Associate at VIT, where she mentored postgraduate and undergraduate students, supervised research projects, and delivered lectures on research methodology and laboratory practices. She is skilled in project management, teamwork, leadership, and scientific communication.
Her research focuses on designing advanced biomaterials, including larnite, and polymer-based composites to enhance bone regeneration, mechanical strength, and biological performance in orthopaedic applications.Her achievements include the Raman Research Award (2022 & 2023) and the Best Oral Presentation Award at AMCEHA 2023.As a Research Associate at VIT, she mentored postgraduate and undergraduate students, supervised research projects, and demonstrated strong skills in scientific communication and teamwork.
Dr Shanmugapriya K
Dr Shanmugapriya K.holds M.A., B.Ed., PhD, and HDCA degrees and is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of English at Dr M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Arani Off-Campus.
Her research interests encompass ecocriticism, anthropomorphism, children’s literature, classical fables, and media studies. She has published in Scopus-indexed journals such as Ecocycles, Studies in Media and Communication, and Journal of Law and Sustainable Development, alongside 13 peer-reviewed non-Scopus journals. She has also contributed 10 book chapters on animality, Indian classical literature, and magical realism, and featured in poetry anthologies by the Poets of India.She has presented research at prominent national and international conferences, including IIT Madras, REVA University, and the University of Exeter, England. Her work on human and non-human animal interactions was presented at the Anthrozoology International Practice Conference (AIP2023).
Dr Shanmugapriya is a distinguished academic and researcher who serves as an Editor for the IIP International Publishers book series and as Associate Editor of the Indonesian Journal of Social and Environmental Issues. She also contributes as a Review Editor for several reputed international journals. In recognition of her scholarly contributions, she was honoured with the Raman Research Award (2023) by VIT, Vellore. She is also the author of the book titled “THE BASICS OF RESEARCH: A GUIDE FOR BEGINNERS”
