The Media and Publication Club of Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Deemed to be University, Off Campus – Arni, organized an awareness programme on World Day Against Child Labour on 12 June 2026 at 11.00 a.m. in CC2.
The programme commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Dr. R. Manikandan, Chief Club Coordinator, who welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of protecting children’s rights and ensuring access to education.
The Inaugural Address was delivered by Dr. V. Peruvaluthi, Joint Registrar, who highlighted the need for collective efforts to eliminate child labour and create a safe and nurturing environment for every child.
The event was conducted under the benevolence of Dr. A.C. Shanmugam, Chancellor, and Tmt. S. Lalithalakshmi, Managing Trustee, and was presided over by Er. A.C.S. Arunkumar, President, Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, Off Campus – Arni.
The Chief Guest Introduction was presented by Dr. Subhashree G.R., Club In-charge. The resource person, Mr. Valavan Vasantha Siddhartha, Associate Director – Programs, Miracle Foundation India, delivered an insightful talk on the significance of child rights, the harmful effects of child labour, and the collective responsibility of society in ensuring a brighter future for children.
Students and faculty members actively participated in the programme and gained valuable awareness about the theme “Every Child’s Dream, Every Community’s Theme” and the slogan “Give Them Wings, Not Weights.” The session reinforced the message that every child deserves a safe, healthy, and happy childhood free from exploitation.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Harini, BCA, who expressed gratitude to the management, resource person, faculty members, students, and organizers for their support and participation in making the event a success.
